Descriptif:

VASE IMITATING GILT BRONZE
In gu beaker form with slender body interrupted by a rounded central boss, the sides shaped in nine angular lobes and spreading trumpet-like to the foliated rim, whilée spreading also towards a similar foliated projection at the foot; with inset foot ring and flat base. The central boss is decrated with five conventionalised bats in relief and the inside of the lip with a design of nine pointed ruyi heads containing bats. The vase is covered with soufflé gilding which is applied over a brownish-aubergine enamel. Within the neck are visible imitation clips of a kind used in joining the upper and lower halves of such a bronze vessel.
The six-character seal mark appears in impressed relief on the base.
